Recognize stock already allocated to a job
Materials set aside for a customer can look like ordinary back stock even after your team has committed them to an order. Label project or job allocations, including partly picked orders and supplier deliveries awaiting assignment. Explain whether your records remove the goods when picked, delivered or invoiced. This is especially helpful when the count is being used to review purchasing or establish the stock included in a business transfer.
Follow tools beyond the main storage rack
For an equipment inventory, list the areas staff actually use: the workshop, service vehicles, office cupboards and any separate storage. Identify tool sets and the components you want counted individually. Items signed out to a job should have a recognizable reference and current location. We can discuss the accessible locations to be counted and the records available for equipment elsewhere before deciding how to present the findings.
