How long does each inventory service take?

A financial inventory typically takes about two hours. Itemized scan inventories generally take three to six hours for most stores because every product barcode must be scanned. Ownership change inventories usually take two to three hours, depending on the buyer and seller agreement. Asset inventories typically take one to three hours. Store size, item volume, preparation, and the agreed scope can affect all estimates.

How can we prepare for an ownership change inventory?

Buyers and sellers should agree in advance on margins and how expired merchandise will be handled. Remove any expired products that will not be included before our team arrives, and make sure all merchandise is clearly priced. These steps help the inventory proceed efficiently and reduce questions during the count.

What does an inventory audit include?

Every engagement includes a physical count. Financial inventory provides department totals and an overall total; itemized scan inventory provides every barcode and quantity in an itemized file; ownership change inventory creates a neutral transfer record; and asset inventory documents business property rather than merchandise for sale.

What is the difference between financial and itemized scan inventory?

Financial inventory counts every included item but reports department totals and an overall total. Itemized scan inventory records every barcode and quantity and provides an itemized file that can be prepared for import into a compatible back-office system.

How quickly are count results available?

Department totals can be available as soon as the count is complete. The timing and format of the final report are confirmed with you before the engagement.

Can you provide cost and retail value reports?

Financial inventory provides department totals and an overall total rather than individual barcode and quantity detail. Contact our office to confirm the valuation basis needed for your count.

Do you handle change-of-ownership inventories?

Yes. We provide an impartial third-party count that helps buyers and sellers document the inventory transferring with a business.

Can your team work with our back-office system?

Our team has experience with S2K, SSCS, Modisoft, PDI, and other retail systems.
