Draw a clear line through shared storage
If another business shares your building or yard, identify your shelving, cages and storage areas before we arrive. Goods do not always stay behind the right door, particularly when deliveries or repairs are in progress. An ownership label and a contact for neighboring areas help resolve uncertainty. Include any separately rented storage in the location list so the agreed count covers the whole picture you want reviewed.
Identify replacement parts before they become equipment
A service business may hold spare parts for customers alongside parts used to maintain its own machines. Show us how your team distinguishes them, including opened packs and removed components awaiting a decision. For an asset count, point out machines in use, stored equipment and items waiting for removal. A recognizable description and location can be more helpful than a total that combines unrelated materials.

Can we include goods stored outside the main building?
Yes, tell us about each outdoor area and the type of goods stored there. We will discuss access and identification as part of planning, including how to distinguish your property from customer or supplier items.
We reuse containers with old labels. What will help?
Flag reused containers and provide a current contents label where you can. Let the count lead know which manufacturer labels are no longer reliable so old descriptions do not become the basis of the inventory.
