Make an equipment list usable after the count
For an office, workshop or research-related business, agree the identifying details that distinguish similar assets: a label, serial number, location or internal reference. Explain any equipment on loan and any property shared with another organization. PIA can discuss the physical asset count your business needs. Keeping the ownership boundary clear is especially useful when items occupy the same workspace but belong to different teams or organizations.
Choose a stock review that matches your trading pattern
If your Davis shop or food business sees different demand around the university calendar, compare like periods when reviewing inventory results. Note special purchases, returns and changes in the assortment alongside the count date. A lower quantity after a busy period is not, by itself, an unexplained loss.
