Know when a part leaves available stock
In a workshop or parts business, a component can leave the shelf before the related job is invoiced. Explain how you record parts issued to work orders, materials waiting beside a job and unused pieces returned to stock. Those distinctions help make a physical quantity meaningful against your available-stock balance.
For example, a part on a technician’s bench may still be visible but already allocated to a customer. Discuss its treatment before a count or business transfer so availability and physical presence are not mistaken for the same thing.
Distinguish the goods you sell from the tools you use
A Coalinga business may sell a type of tool that it also uses in its own workshop. Mark which items are resale merchandise and which are operating equipment.
